Do Guests Need an App to Share Wedding Photos?

The Short Answer

Bring your phone, the couple’s event link or QR code, and an internet connection. Open the invitation in Safari or Chrome, join the event, and open Camera. Browsing, reactions, and comments are also available in the browser, subject to the couple’s settings.

A guest’s first visit

Scan the event code with your phone camera, or tap the direct link the couple sent. Check the event name before joining. Enter the display name you want attached to your contributions, then open Camera and choose your photos or videos.

After posting, check whether the file is saved locally, uploaded, awaiting approval, or saved for the reveal. Pending files remain in the same browser after a reload; reopen the same event and guest session with a connection to resume. A completed upload can stay hidden until approval or the scheduled reveal.

Phones, files, and permissions

Guests can use iPhone and Android browsers. An older browser, an embedded browser inside a messaging app, or an unsupported file can behave differently. Open the link in Safari or Chrome if the file picker or camera does not work as expected.

Choose up to 20 files per batch, with photos under 20 MB and videos under 100 MB each. File size is not the same as video duration. Select a shorter copy if a clip is too large, and keep the original on your phone.

Photos and videos are stored exactly as guests upload them, with no resizing or re-compression; a 2,048-pixel copy is used only for fast browsing. Downloads and the host’s ZIP export use the originals.

What the host needs to handle

The couple or designated host uses the iPhone app for event creation, guest management, moderation, and slideshow controls. Android guest support does not mean Android host setup is available. Partner or planner co-host accounts are not currently part of this workflow.

Individual downloads are available when allowed by the host and deliver the original file. The host exports the complete collection from the iPhone app as a ZIP of original files (link emailed, opens on any computer) or straight into the Photos app. The host’s download setting also determines whether guests can save shared files.

Give guests one clear instruction

Place a short prompt beside the code: ‘Scan to share your wedding photos. No app needed.’ Keep the code visible at the tables and share the same event link afterward for guests who prefer to upload later.

For an unplugged ceremony, save the photo-sharing invitation for the reception. Ask a willing friend to demonstrate the browser flow, while the host keeps control of the event account.
